چکیده
Abstract Understanding the perceptions of young people is a critical issue in formulation and implementation climate change mitigation strategies. Based on cognitive hierarchy theory, present study aims to investigate factors that motivate or hinder people’s perception forestation as strategy mitigate post-conflict Somalia. This hypothesized model which knowledge, risk forest value orientations (anthropocentric/biocentric) influence attitude toward attitude, turn, predicts behavioral intentions. We randomly surveyed students from three universities different regions Somalia collected 434 structured survey questionnaires. Using structural equation modeling, results showed knowledge significant predictor intention but not forestation. The also revealed significantly influenced by biocentric orientation both directly indirectly through Contrary previous studies, our indicate partially mediates relationship between intentions fully anthropocentric orientation, intentions, while it did show any mediation intention. found action inaction mainly shaped Finally, efforts should avoid relying solely for decision-making formation instead incorporate other into more comprehensive framework.

Crop switching as a strategy for adapting to climate change
This paper examines the impact of climate change on primary crops grown in Africa. An innovative approach is presented that bridges the gap between agro-economic and traditional Ricardian models. We label it a ‘structural Ricardian model’. It first captures the type of crop a farmer will select and then examines the conditional net revenue of that crop. The model is estimated using a sample of ...
متن کاملSustainable biochar to mitigate global climate change
Production of biochar (the carbon (C)-rich solid formed by pyrolysis of biomass) and its storage in soils have been suggested as a means of abating climate change by sequestering carbon, while simultaneously providing energy and increasing crop yields. Substantial uncertainties exist, however, regarding the impact, capacity and sustainability of biochar at the global level. In this paper we est...
متن کاملSoil carbon sequestration to mitigate climate change
The increase in atmospheric concentration of CO2 by 31% since 1750 from fossil fuel combustion and land use change necessitates identification of strategies for mitigating the threat of the attendant global warming. Since the industrial revolution, global emissions of carbon (C) are estimated at 270F 30 Pg (Pg = petagram= 10 g = 1 billion ton) due to fossil fuel combustion and 136F 55 Pg due to...
متن کاملA neuro-fuzzy approach to vehicular traffic flow prediction for a metropolis in a developing country
Short-term prediction of traffic flow is central to alleviating congestion and controlling the negative impacts of environmental pollution resulting from vehicle emissions on both inter- and intra-urban highways. The strong need to monitor and control congestion time and costs for metropolis in developing countries has therefore motivated the current study. This paper establishes the applicatio...
متن کاملA Neo-Gramscian Approach to Corporate Political Strategy: Conflict and Accommodation in the Climate Change Negotiations*
A neo-Gramscian theoretical framework for corporate political strategy is developed drawing from Gramsci's analysis of the relations among capital, social forces, and the state, and from more contemporary theories. Gramsci's political theory recognizes the centrality of organizations and strategy, directs attention to the organizational, economic, and ideological pillars of power, while illumin...
